RAIN GARDENS X PUBLIC ART: Community Engagement with Rainscapes
Vaughn worked with King County Rainscapes to engage communities around Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI): gardens to help filter and slow down rainwater so it is clean and safe for humans and fish and wildlife. Her research and outreach to residents, community groups, and land managers delved into about how people relate to their backyards, public spaces and waterways. Vaughn created community engagement events, an artistic rain garden guide, and a sculptural rain garden. Vaughn’s work helps people see how caring for our land and waters is possible and points to ways to understand and steward rain gardens now and in the future.
