As
a final event in the life of the Berwick biosphere, a land grab was
held. Participants flagged their chosen biosphere portion with a pink
surveyor's flag. I then dug up their portion of earth. Participants
adopted their biosphere portion by signing to accept responsibility
for their new piece of land. The adoption forms were then notarized
and given to the new owners. The adoption forms outline the new duties
of the owner, as well as the care opportunities provided by their biosphere
